Ubisoft just put out a brief video of its occasional spokesperson, gamer, and model Aisha Tyler, showing her getting smacked with the business end of a garbage truck after a brief jaunt through Watch Dogs' Chigao, with protagonist Aiden Pearce in hot pursuit.
Is there a point to the video? It sure doesn't seem like there's one. Maybe that even though you can control virtually anything in the city connected to the grid, you're still at the mercy of rogue traffic? I think we'd all enjoy it more if it was Kathy Griffin.
She does ramble a bit to a friend on the other end of her phone, justifying just how it is players will be able to get so interconnected with whoever they happen to be tailing. As she notes in her blathering, a new chip has been invented that when swallowed, will allow people to interface with whatever gizmo they like, no longer requiring password input to access various accounts. With science now allowing us to track kids and the elderly by implanting chips, it sure seems like a possible future.
Comedic value aside, what's perhaps more noticeable is the drop in quality since the last Watch Dogs trailer Ubisoft presented. Most of the media that's been presented to the media and the public is of an absurdly outstanding quality. But this trailer just seems to fall short, leading many to believe it was built using hardware from the current console generation. No matter though, it's still pretty funny. You can check out the short video at the bottom of the article.
Since it's debut at last year's E3, Watch Dogs is without a doubt one of the big games that has gamers salivating. An open world sandbox game where players can hack into a city's network and control everything from security cameras to traffic lights? Two please.
Watch Dogs takes place in an alternate, open Chicago that would make Orwell piss his pants, where a Big Brother styled network keeps everyone and everything jacked in for the purpose of keeping tabs. At the same time, it allows players as protagonist Aiden Pearce to meddle with all manner of the city's infrastructure as they see fit - ATM's, traffic lights, security cameras, raise bridges, public transportation, access various networks, etc.
The game is slated to release to PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on November 19th, with an eventual release for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
