CONSOLES

PlayStation 4 lets you add up to 2000 friends without PS Plus

There's more new information from the PlayStation 4 front. Digital and community manager for PlayStation UK, Hollie Bennett revealed more details about the way the console will work out via the latest PlayStation Access episode.

Bennett offered a number of details for the console while also confirming that the PlayStation 4 will support party chat with up to 2000 friends in the player's friend list. She added that while the previous DualShock 3 controller will not support the PS4, it would indeed support the PS Move.

Moreover, while players will need PlayStation Plus for playing multiplayer games, they won't need it to access other services like Netflix, Party Chat, or even free to play titles. As far as the device's color is concerned, Bennett confirmed that the PlayStation 4 would ship with only one color - jet-black, quite different to PlayStation 3's piano black.

As far as 3D support for the console is concerned, it was stated that while nothing can be said about it at the moment, but Sony does have plans to offer 3D content with more news on the topic arriving soon. Moreover, Xross Media will also see a massive change with the new ability to manage downloads, additional content and even see what the player's friends are up to.

As mentioned earlier, the PS4 will ship with a 500GB HHD drive at launch with players even having the option to extend it later down the line. Bennett also added more information about the PS Camera stating that the camera can shoot in 3D, has four microphones for directional input and output audio with supported AR technology.

Finally, there's no need for users to make a new PSN log-in ID, as the current ID will work fine, and users can even limit what personal information is shared with others friends. Check out the entire Q&A session with Hollie Bennett below.

The new details about the PS4 has arrived after it was reported earlier that there is a high probability of both PS4 and Xbox One being sold out faster than you think as soon as the consoles are made open for retail. The fast sellout of the consoles was predicted by Robert W. Baird analyst Colin Sebastian.
