"Quantico" season 2 executive producer Josh Safran and star Priyanka Chopra (Alex) shed some light with The Hollywood Reporter regarding the series' shocking cliff-hanger midseason finale [If you haven't watched the episode yet, better stop reading if don't want any spoilers]. On Ryan's (Jake McLaughlin) shocking death, Chopra admitted she wasn't expecting the twist.
"That was a big shocker," Priyanka Chopra told the online publication. "None of us saw that twist coming. I think that takes her a while to also understand and she goes into figuring out why Ryan would do what he did."

She then finished off with teasing fans, saying, "The answers will be very interesting. It is a theme of the back half of the season." Showrunner Safran hinted as much about "Quantico" season 2. He explained that Alex will find out what prompted Ryan to join the Citizen's Liberation Front (CLF). However, the process may take some time and won't happen right away.
What Happens To Alex & Ryan's Story?
To recall, Alex and Ryan got engaged in the last episode of "Quantico" season 2. Now that she discovered Ryan's betrayal, spoilers say that she'll distance herself from him. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Safran explained that Ryan didn't have the best intentions when he asked Alex to marry him.
What pushed Ryan to propose to Alex stemmed mostly from the helping out in killing a man. Alex became a glimmer of hope in his otherwise dark life. The showrunner said that Ryan saw Alex as someone to hold on to after his wrongdoings. While this isn't the best reasons to marry someone, the executive producer still hopes that they will be happy together.
