American rapper and songwriter Kanye West has been ordered to remain in the hospital after he was admitted for an alleged "mental breakdown." He has been diagnosed to suffer from "temporary psychosis due to dehydration and sleep deprivation, various reports claim.
ET Online reported that West had "hallucinations" and "severe paranoia" not only as a result of lack of sleep due to heavy workload, but also because of the news that his wife was a victim of a terrifying armed robbery that happened last month in Paris. He harbored thoughts that there are people who are trying to kill him and his wife.
"The Paris incident unsettled everyone, but unsettled him the most," a source was quoted by ET Online as saying. "He had this anxiety that everyone around him was trying to get him," the report continued on the quote and added that with his current state, there was reluctance on the doctors to diagnose him on anything because cognitive disorders are not easily diagnosed after one medical consultation.
Before he had a mental meltdown and was admitted, Kanye West, 39, refused to get a medical intervention. He was eventually restrained to bring him to University of California Los Angeles Medical Center. A report from TMZ said he was supposed to be released on November 28, but due to his "unstable condition," the doctor refused to issue his release order. West has not recovered yet from his mental breakdown.
Since his hospitalization, Kanye West continues to have his extreme paranoia and hallucinations and is currently being constantly monitored. There was even a point where he reportedly refused to let his doctors see or touch him.
Kanye West has previously cancelled the remaining Saint Pablo series of tour. In his previous tour performances, the artist has reportedly manifested "erratic behavior" and "unusual rantings."
