Call of Duty: Ghosts, alongside EA's Battlefield 4, is easily one of the hottest upcoming games of the year, with little or no doubt that the titles will indeed be hitting next generations consoles such as Microsoft's Xbox One and PlayStation 4 from Sony. Now there's a new report claiming that Ghosts will be among several cross-platform titles that could arrive even before the release of the next generation consoles.
FutureShop, a Canadian retailer believes that FPS titles such as Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty: Ghosts could actually arrive before the official retail release of both PS4 and Xbox One.
A fan asked the retailer via Twitter if Ghosts and Battlefield 4 will see day one releases for the next generation consoles or not. To this, the retailer replied: "We anticipate they will both release BEFORE hardware..."
While we already have an official release date for both the titles - Call of Duty: Ghosts on Nov. 5 and Battlefield 4 on Oct. 29 - it looks more likely that both these titles could arrive before the eventual release of the future generation consoles. Moreover, since we are yet to get any official release confirmation for any of the consoles, it's still understood that we might only see them in the later part of November and early December. Still, everything is under speculation for the time being.
Additionally, after Ghosts was officially confirmed for Wii U, the game has received added information about its support on the Wii U. The Call of Duty engine installed in Ghosts is set to add a number of new visual features to the franchise such as displacement mapping, high dynamic range lighting and Sub-D rendering. The graphics of Ghosts, as a result, should be graphically richer compared to the previous Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 on the Nintendo Wii U.
The title is said to support and take advantage of Wii U's Game Pad to offer a second screen experience, similar to Black Ops 2. In Black Ops 2, the touch screen was used for viewing the map and keep tag of kill streaks, alongside the option for selecting load outs. The game is also said to utilize the Wii Remote for players who may prefer motion controls for aiming.
Call of Duty: Ghosts is currently set for an arrival on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
