"Supergirl" has a lot of ground to cover this week as "Medusa" served both as a mid-season finale and as a starting point of the four-night invasion crossover event. However, the episode barely devoted any time in setting up Kara's team up with the Flash and the gang but manages to give a satisfying season 2 mid season finale.
This latest episode of "Supergirl" season 2 is an interesting mix of action and slice of life vibes as it manages to tie up many of the season's ongoing plotlines. Among of these notable plots are the blossoming romantic tension between Kara and Mon El. Cadmus is unleashing an anti alien virus while both Kara and Lena Luthor faced startling revelations about their parents. Needless to say it has been a busy week for the show.
With that said, the most satisfying portion of this week's episode of "Supergirl" has to be the Cadmus plotline. This was deeply explored during the previous episode that depicted Cyborg Superman who was revealed to be the former director of Department of Extra-normal Operations (DEO). Hank Henshaw retrieves what is known as the Medusa virus which was apparently designed by Lilian Luthor in an effort to eliminate all aliens including Krytonians.
In relation to that, Mon El seems to be infected as a result of his tussle with Cyborg Superman as shown in this episode of "Supergirl." With Lillian Luthor pulling the strings, Kara gets help from an unlikely ally, Lillian's daughter, Lena Luthor. They look like a good team as they succeeded not only in foiling LIlian's plan but more importantly they seemed to have brought Cadmus to its end.
Overall, this episode was enjoyable for fans although it can be confusing due to the different subplots like Jimmy Olson as the Guardian and Kara's love story. Some fans focus more on the crossover event build up than the plotline of the episode. Nevertheless. It seems that the crossover event is on. "Supergirl" airs November 28, Monday, at 8pm ET on The CW network.
