When “Blood & Fury: America’s Civil War” premieres on the American Heroes Channel on Dec. 14, TV viewers would get more than a peek at one of the most extraordinary and bloodiest era in American history. They would also experience virtual reality from the perspective of the cadets with the use of Go Pro cameras.
High-End Cinematic Experience
AHC programming is based on true accounts of conflict, heroism and action. No event comes close to defining the U.S. than the American Civil War, Kevin Bennett, executive vice president and general manager of AHC, said. He added that with its high-end cinematic experience, “Blood & Fury: America’s Civil War” could match any Hollywood hit film because it goes beyond textbook.
Rather, it transports the viewer onto the frontlines of the battles that changed the U.S. forever. “Blood & Fury: America’s Civil War” also offers a picturesque nature of the content which AHC presented as an organic opportunity to travel back during the Civil War days, Broadwayworld reports.
Companion VR Piece
AHC said that beside the premiere of “Blood & Fury: America’s Civil War,” the channel would also launch “Civil War: Letter from the Trenches” as companion VR piece. While “Blood & Fury: America’s Civil War” is told from a soldier’s point of view, “Civil War: Letter from the Trenches” is the life of a young cadet in the Confederate army during the 1860.
The cameras use Entaniya fish-eye lenses, providing the TV viewer experience such as bullets flying near their ears and blasts lighting up the field. Cream Productions, which is behind the epic war series, added more explosions and gunfire during the production of “Civil War: Letter from the Trenches" to ensure the sounds of war reverberate when the audience watches the series with a VR headset, according to Hollywood Reporter.
For viewers who do not own as VR headset, they could still have a 360-degre video of the experience on DiscoveryVR.com and AHC’s Facebook page and YouTube channel. It also works using Discovery VR apps for Android, iOS, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Samsung Gear VR, powered by Oculus. Stay tuned to GamenGuide for more "Blood & Fury: America's Civil War."
