Ecommerce giant Amazon has limited the number of reviews that its customers can put into its official website. This has come following the online shopping website's attempt to make sure there are no fake targeted reviews found on its website.
Amazon Limits Reviews; What's The Plan?
On its Customer Service segment, Amazon published a new rule regarding the number of reviews it will allow per person. "You can submit five non-Amazon verified purchase reviews each week, starting on Sunday," the statement said.
Amazon spokeswoman Angie Newman added that the count will be valid from Sunday 12:00 am UTC through Saturday 11:59 pm UTC. "We're always innovating on behalf of our customers and shoppers consistently tell us that they value reviews from other shoppers who they know have purchased the product on Amazon," she said in an email to Geekwire.
Amazon Limited Review Plan Has Exceptions
Verdict Retail's retail analyst Patrick O'Brien said that the review system of the ecommerce website has always been impressive. However, the new rules have been introduced to make sure there are no more bogus, fake and heavily influenced reviews on the website. The reviews for the books, however, will remain the same. That means there will be no restrictions imposed on those who give reviews for books, music and video.
Besides the books, there is another exception for "prolific reviewers." According to Digital Reader, Amazon sent its "prolific reviewers" an email informing them about their complete right on giving reviews on the website. It stated that these reviewers will be allowed to give as many reviews as they want but others are limited to only five reviews in a week.
It was only in October when Amazon announced the end of its scheme of "incentivised reviews." This scheme did not pay users for writing reviews but allowed reviewers to post a review in exchange for a discounted product or free product. The scheme was meant for only those who used to give genuine reviews and was not for all.
