More and more, it seems like folks just love the hell out of anything with Bethesda's name on it, particularly its heavily immersive games like the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series. You have the cosplayers, the fans who make their own weapons based on those featured in the games, recreate the music, there's even fans who do all of the aforementioned tasks, all for the purpose of making a fan film.
We've seen a number of Fallout fan films - Nuka Break and Red Star immediately spring to mind, and you of course have to mention Fallout: Lanius, for which the crew managed to get Lanius's original voice actor. But there's not too many Skyrim fan films, because, let's face it, it's more fun to dress up as a ghoul in a desert is far more fun, and easier, than parading around a snow covered tundra in little more than strung together chain mail and leather straps. Though, Lindsey Sterling and Peter Hollens didn't seem to mind. That, and "fallout fan film" is just a lot more fun to say.
But requiring such a minimal amount of materials can be actually work out to your benefit, as the team behind the Skyrim fan-film "Journey's End" noticed. The team managed to make something truly impressive with a meager $100 budget. The actor playing the role of the Dragon destroying Dovahkiin also happens to be the maker of the movie's props, Shannon Clawson, so double credit is deserved for dual roles.
This is just one of many short game based fan films done by the DangerousBrew crew. The amount of short films they've done is impressive, and they've used other games as inspiration for some of their works, including GoldenEye and BioShock.
"Journey's End" shows us a Dragonborn in retirement, who "embarks on one last adventure, after being lured into the forest by a mysterious voice." After seeing two bandits rise from their apparent deaths, the 'ol dragon slayer realizes something is obviously amiss. Watch the video below in its entirety to find out what's going on, just make sure you watch for the joke among jokes that caused an end to many an adventurer.
