The Cleveland Browns continue to be a woeful sight, still winless as of this writing. Their latest mangling came at the hands of the New York Giants (27-13) falling to 0-12.
The Browns still have four games to go. Should they drop all of them, they will become only the second team in NFL history to finish with a 0-16 record. The other team was the 2008 Detroit Lions, the NY Times reported.
“There’s four games that we’ve got an opportunity to go out and play, so there’s four opportunities to win, and there’s another four opportunities to lose,” said coach Hue Jackson. Pathetic as it may sound, the fact of the matter is that the Browns are trying to save face for now.
But worse things are ahead once the season is over with Cleveland pegged with the inevitable task of coming up with major moves to plug holes to their roster. The first thing that comes to mind would be the quarterback position.
As most teams, the Browns have had their share of bad luck. Robert Griffin III and rookie Cody Kessler have been taken out due to injuries while Josh McCown didn’t exactly render an impressive performance against the Giants.
Looking ahead, the quarterback needs is just one of many problems plaguing the wards of coach Jackson. A running back is seen as something that they need as well. They do have Isaiah Crowell but the fact remains that he is not made to start at RB.
Crowell backers claim that his inability to shine is because of the quarterbacking woes, but somehow that may not entirely hold up. The best way to look into that is looking at the numbers of his previous years, an average and certainly replaceable quarterback, Dawg Pound Daily reported.
The current season is lost and the goal is to avoid embarrassment. Come the offseason, that is when the Browns need to be careful in addressing their team’s manpower needs.
