"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 has already aired five episodes, and is expected to end in March 2017, but still, there's no sign of Elena coming back into the series. Now, new reports are claiming that Nina Dobrev will not appear in Mystic Falls, but will be joining "The Originals" cast in New Orleans.
Since the exit of Nina Dobrev in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6, fans are hopeful that the actress will somehow return to the series. It is reported that the series got lower ratings after Nina was no longer part of the cast. Although showrunner Julie Plec mentioned in her interview with TV Line that there will be a very strong presence of Nina's character in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8, this may only be shown through flashbacks just like in season 7.
According to Gamenguide, "The Originals" TV series will be borrowing some of the cast from "The Vampire Diaries" for the crossover episode. Reports have claimed that Alaric and Matt Donovan, who are also part of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8, will be joining the original vampires, however, fans will have to wait until the season premiere.
