Tinted windows on your whip? Check. Hottest outfits for Michael, Trevor, and Franklin? Check. Shiney spiked leather collar for man's best friend? Third times the charm. Japanese gaming mag Famitsu has revealed new information about how players will be able to pimp out their poochies, including Franklin's own pet dog, Chop.
The magazine provided the official details, but someone with an understanding of Japanese was quick to post the tidbits over at the GTAForums. The magazine confirms that pet accessories like collars can be replaced for something more your own style. In addition to dogs, Famitsu has also revealed that a total of 15 other animals will feature in GTA 5, but the mag was mum as to what type of animals they are. Here come those Bigfoot rumors again...
It's unclear what purpose the 14 remaining animals will serve. There's a host of side-jobs for characters to take part in, including hunting, but all the skinning and cooking might be a bit too Red Dead for Grand Theft Auto 5 to go that route. This is Los Santos, not the wild west.
Chop is unique to Franklin only, but it's possible the remaining two characters will get their own. I envision a borderline rabid wild mutt for Trevor, probably a pomeranian for Michael, trying to uphold hat sheltered suburban life he's set up for himself in recent years.
Make sure you keep an eye on your pet, because if you're not careful, you can lose him. Kill all the hookers you like, but lose that dog and I guarantee most of you will be quick to reload their saved game. It's Fallout 3's dogmeat all over again.
The mag also confirmed a Japanese release date of October 10th, roughly a month after the game's stateside release in September.
It's unclear if Chop or any other family pets will feaure more as function or fashion, as the only gameplay we've seen so far doesn't show the pooch in action.
The game features the largest and most thriving game-world Rockstar has ever created, set in the sprawling city of Los Santos and for miles beyond - from the tops of the mountains to the depths of the ocean.
Not much is known about the story, but Rockstar has confirmed there will be multiple endings, and the story will be about the same length as Red Dead Redemption, at about 25 - 30 hours, and that's before the massive amount of secondary things to do, or release of the obligatory DLC, so this should be a monster of a game.
Grand Theft Auto V features a first for the series, the ability to switch back and forth between three different characters. First up, you have Michael, who seems to act as a sort of leader of the trio. He's a career criminal whose patience for his family and his wallet are both running dry. Next up, the story is set for repo man Franklin who wants out of the life he's dug himself into. Finally, the resident redneck Trevor, definitely the most colorful of the bunch, but also potentially the most dangerous.
Originally slated for a Spring release, Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto 5 will be available on Sept. 17th.
