BMW i3 Release Date, News & Update: Luxury Company Promises Overhaul Electric Car, Increases Limit; Will Go Head-To-Head With Tesla Model 3?

With the emergence of electric cars nowadays, of course, BMW would not miss to be on top and go head-to-head with other motor companies, especially Tesla. The luxury vehicles corporation is now eyeing to reveal its BMW i3 in 2017 with an overhauled design that targets to go beyond expectations.

According to Engadget, BMW i3 would carry a lot of aesthetic improvements, but still, promises practicality for the consumers. It may hold a new battery that will expand the vehicle's capability with its increased 186-mile limit.

However, it is not yet confirmed if how the user can drive further with BMW i3, but the company promises that the improvements will be "noticeable." Although the upgrade is not grand as the last, the vehicle will have enough power to go for an extra mile of traveling.

SlashGear also added that BMW doesn't give a word about the added car's range, but the publication noted that the increase will be 50 percent less than what its current battery has to offer. Moreover, the upcoming BMW i3 will also bear a new look for its front and rear areas that might make it seems like a new car.

Although the said change is not clearly elaborated, it is believed that the car's design is being polarized. Meanwhile, with BMW i3's slicker looks, it seems like it is trying to compete with the upcoming Tesla Model 3.

However, it looks like the BMW i3 is a little under the Tesla Model 3 when it comes to vehicle's extents. Tesla swears its new sedan will give a minimum range of 215 miles with a starting price of $35,000.

The current BMW i3, on the other hand, that goes with the price of $47,450 with a range extender. Although BMW puts its BMW i3 with a lot of advanced technology and invaluable designs, the company can't deny that it only sold 25,000 units in 2015. With that, the luxury company has to work harder and more economical to keep pace with the growing electric car demand.
