One of the requirements for Rockstar’s upcoming Grand Theft Auto 5 title for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 is the fact that players will need to go through a mandatory installation procedure in order to play the game. And while we have been pondering as to how things will fall in place for this, it seems like the official GTAForums already has an answer waiting.
As a reply to a fan’s query about the game’s installation who recently “shot mouthoff an email simply asking if we will be able to install disc 2 as well. I figured it would be obvious since the 360 lets you install games 100%,” the developer stated that after the initial 8GB mandatory installation is finished on the first disc, the player will receive the option to install the second disc (play disc) in its entirety.
Moreover, the play disc will still need to be inside the disc drive to play (although it won’t spin). The game will weigh in at around 15GB with both the discs installed on Xbox 360’s hard drive, or a 32GB flash drive.
Additionally, it was also revealed that the new GTA 5 gameplay video, recently released, was running on the Playstation 3. “Just to clarify for those asking, this particular video was captured with footage from the PS3 version of the game,” the team wrote.
Grand Theft Auto 5, set in fictional Los Santos in the state of San Andreas and its surrounding areas, based on modern-day Los Angeles and Southern California, is said to be Rockstar’s biggest open world game to date. The franchise, also for the first time, will feature three playable protagonists.
“The biggest, most dynamic and most diverse open world ever created, Grand Theft Auto V blends storytelling and gameplay in new ways as players repeatedly jump in and out of the lives of the game’s three lead characters, playing all sides of the game’s interwoven story,” the official page states.
“Amidst the turmoil, three very different criminals plot their own chances of survival and success: Franklin, a street hustler looking for real opportunities and serious money; Michael, a professional ex-con whose retirement is a lot less rosy than he hoped it would be; and Trevor, a violent maniac driven by the chance of a cheap high and the next big score. Running out of options, the crew risks everything in a series of daring and dangerous heists that could set them up for life.”
GTA 5 is currently set for a Sept. 17 worldwide release.
