The "Tekken 7" release date is highly anticipated by fans of the fighting game franchise. While the latest title from Bandai Namco is already available in arcades across Japan since last year, the title is yet to launch for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles as well as the "Tekken 7" PC release.
'Tekken 7' Gameplay - Street Fighter Akuma's Crossover A Special Case
Akuma from Street Fight will be making a crossover as one of the "Tekken 7" characters. However, it is unlikely that Bandai Namco would be making character crossovers a standard as Akuma's inclusion in the "Tekken 7" is considered to be a special case.
"Tekken 7" creator Katsuhiro Harada explains that Akuma is woven into the storyline of the game and not just some backstory, reports Game Spot. But at the moment, the developer is not actively considering bringing characters from other games into the franchise.
'Tekken 7' PC Development Spurred By Unreal Engine
The latest title will be the franchise's first foray into the PC platform. PC gamers may have Unreal Engine to thank for the "Tekken 7" PC release.
Franchise creator Katsuhiro Harada explained that while there was always demand for PC versions of the franchise's games, they refrained from making one due to the PC high hurdle. But since the new title was being developed using the Unreal Engine, it is now relatively easier for a "Tekken 7" PC version.
'Tekken 7' Release To Other Consoles Possible?
The newer Xbox Scorpio and PlayStation 4 Pro are possible platforms that might be tapped in the future. However, Harada did not comment on the likelihood of seeing a "Tekken 7" Xbox Pro or PlayStation 4 Pro versions at the moment saying that the consoles are relatively new. It is likely that Bandai Namco is just waiting for a certain number of users the newer consoles could generate as threshold before deciding to roll out new versions for them.
But as far as the new Nintendo Switch console is concerned, it might not happen anytime soon. Apparently, people at Bandai Namco was just as surprised about Nintendo's reveal of its latest console, which was previously referred to as Nintendo NX, that developing a "Tekken 7" Nintendo Switch was not being considered. Of course, that is not saying that it will not happen.
'Tekken 7' Release Date
Gamers can expect the title to arrive the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on the first half of 2017. However, Bandai Namco is yet to announce a definite "Tekken 7" release date. Be sure to stay tuned to GamenGuide for the latest gaming news and updates.
