As the weeks are approaching the upcoming 2016 Game Awards, gaming fans can expect that there will be an extra of more than 1.5 Billion viewers streaming live this year. The award is organized by producer George Keighley and will happen on Dec. 1, 2016.
The Game Awards is an annual award ceremony that recognizes the best video game achievements in its respective year. It's one of the biggest event for every gamer around the world. It was always streaming live on different medias like Facebook, Virtual Reality, YouTube, Game consoles and Twitch. But this year, the event goes beyond its limits.
George Keighley and his team's effort will be paid off as they found a way to expand the live stream for more than 1.5 billion viewers. For the first time, Chinese multimedia giant 'Tencent' will be part of Game Awards 2016. It aims to create localized streams of the event that can provide access to millions of gamers in China. As per George Keighley, China is one of the biggest gaming markets around the world. This partnership was a big help for the publishers since they having difficulties to reach gamers in the region. Instant messaging QQ and WeChat were one of the many platforms that Tencent will use for the event.
The Game Awards 2016 will be held on Thursday, December 1 at Microsoft Theatre, Los Angeles. There were already listed nominated games. "Pokémon Go" is nominated for Best Mobile/Handheld and Best Family Game categories.
There were five console games nominated under Game Of The Year categories such as "TitanFall 2", "Doom", "Overwatch", "Inside and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End". In addition, "The Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" was one of the year's biggest blockbusters and scored nominations. For the Most Anticipated Game categories, the nominees are "God Of War", "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild", "Horizon: Zero Dawn", "Red Dead Redemption 2", and "Mass Effect: Andromeda".
