Square Enix formally announced Kingdom Hearts 3 during Sony's press briefer at E3 last month, and while it did look glorious, the company didn't offer much information on the game. Perhaps rightly so, as it's still in, according to the company, "early stages of development." To help shed a bit of light on the game, Square Enix released a fact sheet for the game.
The only problem is it has none of the facts you might be looking for. There's a whole lot of "I knew that already," as opposed to "wow, really?"
Here's the basic summation: Kingdom Hearts 3 is a next-gen exclusive console, headed to both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One systems, featuring a more "mature" Sora alongside Daffy Duck and Goofy. The trio and squeaky voiced rodent face of Disney, King Mickey, discovered KH baddie Xehanort was behind a plot to start a Keyblade War, go figure. Mickey and Sora's buddy Riku hightail it to look for other keyblade wielders, while the trio goes searching for the "Key to Return Hearts" in an array of Disney environments, as Kingdom Hearts tradition seems to dictate.
ElectronicTheatre put up the fact sheet, so head there if you want to see it in its entirety. Just don't expect to learn anything new from it.
Kingdom Hearts 3 will pick up right where Nintendo 3DS exclusive Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance concluded, and is set to close out the "Xehanort saga."
"It's the final episode in the 'Dark Seeker' saga that ban with the original KH and it'll depict the final battle with Xehanort," said Kingdom Hearts creator Tetsuya Nomura to Famitsu magazine.
Gameplay is set to match new visuals by making battles more grand, improving AI, and implementing new features. No official release date has yet been announced, but the game is expected to arrive some time in 2014.
