Back in September 2015, Google announced the Nexus 5X alongside the Nexus 6P that was manufactured by Korean tech giant LG. It was exciting to have a phone supported by Google itself but recently, some owners of this device had started complaining about what appeared to be a hardware issue which causes the phone to get stuck in a boot loop.
Typically, when cases like this would arise, the standard operating procedure would be to send the phone back to its manufacturer to get it fixed or to get a new unit. Unfortunately, the Nexus 5X has already ceased production and spare parts for the phone are no longer available so LG has to take another approach.
Techno Buffalo reports that LG has begun issuing refunds for faulty Nexus 5X handsets that can no longer be repaired due to the said issue. The Nexus 5X has reportedly had more than its fair share of issues since it debuted last year but one of those has proven to be more of a headache than others; forcing owners to let go of these devices.
An email was sent to Nexus 5X owners which says, "We're sorry to hear that you've experienced a problem with your LGH790 and appreciate you giving us the opportunity to provide a warranty repair." The email also says that while they have received the owner's device at part, they have already run out of parts to repair the phone since it is no longer in production.
"To rectify this issue, we would like to offer you a refund for the full amount of your device. That amount will be determined by your sales receipt. Your refund can take approximately 4 weeks to receive due to the holiday" continued the email. That only means that those who own one of these defective smartphones would probably need a spare phone since it will be taking a month or so before one could get a full refund for it.
Android Authority reports that LG is actually handling this unforeseen event pretty well since getting a full refund for a device that a person has had for a year is something that most owners could live with. However, it also has to be noted that earlier, the LGV10 and G4 has suffered bootloop issues, but owners of those devices are not going to be as happy.
