The LG G6 is currently in development and it appears to keep some of the best features of its predecessor, the LG G5. The new flagship model will also reportedly showcase a number of new additions.
The LG G6 will reportedly still feature the removable battery, one of the most-appreciated features of the LG G5. Users liked the idea of taking out their batteries as necessary for safety purposes, after people became wary of defective non-removable batteries that caused the downfall of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
Having a removable power source in the LG G6 generally offer the advantage of safety and convenience, since it is easier to replace batteries. Korea Herald revealed that the LG G6 will most likely feature new technologies like iris recognition and mobile payment.
LG Electronics are planning to offer more to appeal to potential customers, after the LG G5 failed to bring in the needed numbers. The South Korea-based tech firm allegedly lost $680 million from the poor sales of its present flagship model.
According to analysts, LG suffered historical losses with the LG G5 in 2016, which is why they need to showcase a much improved LG G6 soon. Trusted Reviews stated that the LG G6 is also expected to feature a 5.5-inch 4K display, a Snapdragon 830 chipset and the Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
Aside from the removable battery, the LG G6 may have wireless charging. During the Korea Electronics Show in October 2016, LG introduced a new kind of all-in-one module that functions as both a camera and an iris scanner.
Industry experts speculate that the new technology may be integrated in the LG G6, which will compete with Samsung's plans to adopt an iris scanner in its future devices. The LG G6 may also include a mobile payment system, called LG Pay, via Magnetic Secure Transmission or MST.
LG Electronics did not confirm the rumored specifications of the LG G6. However, the company is expected to officially unveil the LG G6 in the first quarter of 2017, most likely at Mobile World Congress 2017 in February. More updates and details are expected soon.
