Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's relationship are on the rocks over an extravagant home renovation that could have fueled the singer's mental breakdown.
The couple bought their Hidden Hills mansion for $20M in 2014, and two years later, the renovations are still ongoing. Sources close to the couple have disclosed that during the final taping of Khloe's talk show last April, Kim Kardashian was overheard complaining that they've already sunk as much as $8M on the renovations and she's the one mostly footing the bill.
The main reason why the renovations are still ongoing is because of Kanye's never-ending requests. The singer would supposedly order renovations then once it's finished, take a look and decide that he didn't want it that way and order the contractors to change it again. The mansion has been a source of tension for Kanye West and Kim K ever since and the couple have been in constant dispute on what to do with the property.
The home renovation just adds more fuel to recent events that could have contributed to Kanye West's breakdown what with Kim being the victim of armed robbery last October. The insider added that the couple hasn't even stayed a night over in their property since they bought it, and they've already blown off as much as $10M in renovations.
Then again, a family member close to the singer says that Kanye West has always been affected during this time of the year. The anniversary of his mother's death could have been one of the triggers for his hospitalization. West has done plenty of tributes in honor of his mother, Donda West, who died on November 10, 2007 due to cosmetic surgery complications.
