The "Harry Potter" spin-off "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is no doubt one of the biggest films to be released this year. Having been released for just a week, it has been dominating the box office, so it is no surprise that sequels are already in order.
Return to Hogwarts?
With the undeniable success of the return of the wizarding world, director David Yates has confirmed that sequel for "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." As for the setting of the next installment, the movie will be returning to the more familiar European continent. While JK Rowling has not finalized the actual setting of the movie yet, it has been speculated to be set in UK and Paris. It is worth noting that the novelist also wrote the screenplay for the first spin-off.
Fans are very much delighted to hear this news, as it could mean that Hogwarts will be returning to the big screen. "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2" is going to be set in a period where Harry Potter and even Voldemort were not around yet.
Grindelwald and Dumbledore
The wizard Grindelwald is some sort of a legend among the magical world, all for the wrong reasons. He is attributed as the dark counterpart of Dumbledore, in his wisdom, intellect, experience, motivations, and intentions. Fans have already seen a glimpse of this dark magician in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," having been played by Johnny Depp.
While this casting decision was met with a lot of criticism, JK Rowling said that they are willing to take a risk and will continue with Depp as Grindelwald for "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2." Being such an iconic character, the production team saw it fit that the actor playing Grindelwald should bear the same weight, and Depp has that quality.
As for the Hogwarts headmaster, casting the next Albus Dumbledore for "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them 2" is a bit trickier. Having to fill in the shoes of Michael Gambon would not be an easy feat to accomplish, so casting selection is still under way.
