Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain has more new details on Solid Snake and more

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain has been one of the games to grab the spotlight in this year’s E3, making a lot of headlines with its big-time reveal trailer at the event. And to top it all, director Hideo Kojima has continued to provide little bits from the game that will give fans some idea as to what’s going on in the story.

Kojima refrained from stating if Solid Snake will indeed be in the game and in what form, because he didn’t want to take away that surprise factor from the game. As far as the real identity of Eli is concerned, while there is a massive speculation that Eli may be a younger version of Liquid Snake, we are still awaiting any kind of official confirmation on that.

Apart from this, The Phantom Pain is also said to center around themes that involves races and vengeance, alongside tackling the subject of child soldiers in a more forceful way. However, the PS4 and Xbox One will apparently help in taking the story ahead and will be better in conveying Kojima’s message.

The players, according to the interview on Jeux Video Magazine, will be able to pan out missions in any order they want with the stories also flowing naturally and adapting to the same. Players are also entitled to make their own choices within the game, and even deciding on the deaths of certain characters. So basically, everything depends on the actions of the player.

Being said that, the players also need to keep in mind the overall structure of the story in the series, with Kojima ensuring that no time paradoxes are created with the death of certain characters as the story moves ahead.

Additionally, according to a Game Reactor report, Kojima was also not too keen to reveal who the main antagonist in Metal Gear Solid 5 is. “I can’t say who it is. But it’s probably exactly who you think it is,” he said. And while that could mean Skull Face is one of them, there’s some possibility that the other will be Zero (also known as Cipher).

Kojima also added that the company “wanted to see how people would react to Fox Engine without having the name - without Konami, without Kojima Productions and without Metal Gear Solid included. How people would react and what kind of feedback we would get back from the fans, from the industry before it came out from the studio. We wanted to see what that was like and it turned out very well."

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain is currently in development for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
