The Order: 1886, the upcoming third-person action-adventure title from Ready at Dawn exclusively for PS4 owners, saw an official announcement at this year’s E3 on June 10. As expected, while the title’s announcement saw a lot of excitement and anticipation from fans, there was nearly nothing as far as in-game details are concerned, alongside a vague description for the engine and gameplay.
However, while we were not exactly sure as to what was arriving with the game, the Official PlayStation blog has made it sure that it offers some kind of food for thought for the game. After all, it’s one of few revealed PS4 exclusive titles.
The site was recently in an interview with studio co-founder Ru Weerasuriya who revealed numerous details about the game and what fans could expect in the upcoming months. Weerasuriya stated that the Order, along with its special shooting mechanics, will be a linear story-based game with a “filmic” experience.
The game has been set in London, and will try to re-create London in terms of the events that occurred back then and other similar stuff. Although it is to be noted that this will not be a 1 to 1 recreation of London. Moreover, this is Ready at Dawn’s first brand new IP that the company is developing after working on God of War for the PS platform.
On asked as to what the developer is bringing in for the game that will be accordance with the team’s experience with God of War, Weerasuriya said: “I think what we’re bringing over is everything that we’ve learned over the past 10 years. This was always the goal when we started the company. We started with the mind-set that we’re going to build our own IP, but we didn’t want to be the guys who straight out of the gate went ‘We’re going to do everything all at once.’ So we learned little by little – building technology, building expertise, getting the right team together. It really took us a long time to find exactly what we wanted.”
“We’ve done well on a single platform. We’ve tried to push the boundaries of what could be done. That’s the same mentality we’re bringing to PS4. We’re working on a single platform – we want to push it, we want to get everything out of it, and hopefully that’s exactly what we’re going to do – milk it for all it’s worth.”
In terms of new stuff added to the game, Weerasuriya confirmed that there are “gameplay features we’ll be talking about that will be very, very cool. Right now we’re playing with things – the moment-to-moment gameplay is really not what you might expect. We didn’t want to make it single-tone, where you rely on one single thing in expense of the rest.”
We are still awaiting any real release date for the game.
