The Last of Us multiplayer mode: Everything you need to know

The Last of Us, as we all expected from the very beginning, has been a major hit so far this year, compared to the other titles that have also seen the light of the day until now. Needless to say, with complete graphical output and immersive gameplay experience, and a detailed storyline, The Last of Us is nothing short of a complete package.

That, however, is just the case with the game’s single-player option, but what about the multiplayer mode for the same? Let’s do a quick recap on all that you need to keep in mind while opting for The Last of Us multiplayer mode.

To begin with, in the game’s multiplayer mode, players will be setting up their own “Factions,” and there are two types of factions: Fireflies and Hunters (whose roles have been detailed via the single-player mode of the game). However, regardless of whichever faction the player chooses, the ultimate goal is to build a clan and see to it that it survives.

The multiplayer has two modes – Supply Raid and Survivor. Both of these seem like different variations of Team Deathmatch. In Supply Raid, however, teams are offered a limited pool of respawns, which is also quite different from Survivors, where every player has only one life in each round without any respawn.

The ultimate objective here, as mentioned earlier, is to grow the clan. And this can only be achieved by winning multiplayer matches, alongside collecting supplies and completing objectives. Interestingly, every match helps the story advance further (one day forward), with the fall and rise of the player’s population being based on the player’s success and failure.

The game is also said to make use of social networking sites like Facebook to aid the player auto-populate his or her faction with real-life friends. This, of course, alongside the growth of the clan, will be kept in notice via Facebook updates. While the change may seem a bit redundant, but it certainly is unique way for everyone to keep in touch, and what better than Facebook in an age of social networks.

As of now, there’s no special mode that involves the infected, alongside missing out on a probable horde mode. There’s also the co-op mode that missing, alongside the fact that the player won’t even be able to play as one of the infected.

However, more on that front is expected as soon as the first DLC for the game hits.
