Amazon's Video Games store announced that it has posted its biggest preorder week ever, thanks in part to Microsoft and Sony's next-gen hardware.
According to the online retailer, more than 2,500 Xbox One and Playstation 4 consoles have been pre-ordered per minute. Xbox One and Playstation 4 pre-orders also led to a year-over-year increase in console orders of more than four thousand percent.
Both consoles sold almost twice that of all video game sales during last year's Black Friday according to Amazon(via Gamespot).
Game & Guide reported, Thursday, that Xbox One pre-orders overtook Playstation 4 on Amazon's US and UK sales charts, mainly due to Microsoft changing its stance on strict DRM requirements the day before.
That change included the ability to play Xbox One games offline without having a 24 hour connection check-in and the ability to play preowned games minus any form of fees.
"Since unveiling our plans for Xbox One, my team and I have heard directly from many of you, read your comments and listened to your feedback," Microsoft said in a statement. " You told us how much you loved the flexibility you have today with games delivered on disc. The ability to lend, share, and resell these games at your discretion is incredible importance to you. Also important to you is the freedom to play offline, for any length of time, anywhere in the world."
Amazon is also offering various bundles for Sony's Playstation 4 including packs that feature Watch Dogs, Battlefield 4, Killzone and Knack. However, the online megastore doesn't have any bundles for Microsoft's next-gen console.
Sony's Playstation 4 is set to retail for $399 and Microsoft's Xbox One will cost $499.
