Eager for The Sims 4? Well, you won't have to wait much longer to get your first peek at it. You and about 200,000 others.
EA officially revealed via the official Sims Twitter feed that the next entry in the series, The Sims 4, will be shown at gamescom this August in Cologne, Germany.
"Big Announcement! #TheSims4 will be revealed in Gamescom in Germany! The game will take the @EA stage to show off the game. #TheSimsLB," read the official tweet.
Announced last March, we haven't heard much about The Sims 4, save for the usual bit of PR speak: "The Sims 4 celebrates the heart and soul of the Sims themselves, giving players a deeper connection with the most expressive, surprising and charming Sims ever..."
After the horrendous launch for the latest Sim City, Maxis was sure to promise an engaging "single player offline experience." But for those who want to stay a part of the Sims community, they'll still be able to "effortlessly share their creativity with friends and fans," though exact details have yet to be offered.
EA and Maxis teased a bit of exclusive info on the game via the game's official site, but only for those fluent in Simlish. As there's easily dozens more that can speak and read Aramaic rather than Simlish, most of us will have to wait until the game's official reveal at Gamescom in August.
Held every year, Gamescom is the biggest gaming event in the world in terms of visitor numbers, even larger than E3, as it's open to more than just gaming press and developers. Other big name developers like Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, Blizzard, Capcom, and others are expected to join alongside EA and Maxis at this year's trade fair.
The Sims 4 is currently in development for both PC and Mac, set to release some time in 2014.
