'Star Wars' Latest News & Updates: Are We Facing The End Of The Episodes & A Future Of Stand Alone Movies?

If there's one thing that "Star Wars" is remembered by, it's their consistency and the legacy that they have left behind. Starting from "Episode I" up to "Episode VII," the continuity of ideas and themes have always been present for "Star Wars" fans all over the world. The release of the latest "Star Wars" spin-off "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" led people tp start asking, will fans watch "Star Wars" stories without jedis or the other prominent characters?

LucasFilm have already thought of all the possibilities and failures this change may bring to the "Star Wars" franchise. Taking this step forward though, stand alone films do not only assure them of more anthology movies but it also gives them a chance to share other stories that occurred in the same universe.

The president of LucasFilm, Kathleen Kennedy, mentioned that it was actually George Lucas who started the ideas for the "Star Wars" spin offs. According to her, George Lucas mentioned that in the "Star Wars" mythology, there were so many opportunities and he already listed a few ideas and thoughts that they could start with.

Disney and LucasFilm want to prove to the world that "Star Wars" can indeed survive beyond the current episodes, according to the Lazergamer site "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will become a living testament to this once it hits the theaters next month.

"Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" is the first for the anthology series that LucasFilm is planning. It will show us the story of a group of rebels discovering about the Death Star and how they could find it's weakness.

Other movies that are part of the new "Star Wars" film series are a possible Young Han Solo movie and a Bobba Fett stand alone. Hearing about all of the possibilities and the huge potential that the "Star Wars" universe holds, fans will definitely want to learn more about the ideas that LucasFilm is preparing.

In 2017, the team is planning a sit down to discuss the future of the "Star Wars" franchise. According to Collider, Kennedy mentioned that the story team, directors, producers, trust and even the visual effects team will get together to discuss what worked, what needs improvement or what they want to explore.
