Just as the year was turning out to be quite a fruitful one for all those PC loyalists with a number of big name titles coming to the platform, they have been dealt with a major blow. According to reports, the PC version of Ubisoft’s upcoming Assassin’s Creed title – Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag – will be delayed.
BehindGames was the first to report about the delay for the PC version of the game, stating that the PC version of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag will be released a few weeks after the release of the one for current-gen consoles.
While the game was already set to be available simultaneously for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, creative director Ashraf Ismail (during this year’s E3) confirmed that the PC version won’t be released on Nov. 1, the date set for the game to arrive on all platforms.
However, if seen from a different angle, the news that the Assassin’s Creed title for PC will be delayed may not be such a bad news after all. This is due to the fact that according to the game’s official press release, it was mentioned that the PC date for the game was yet to be announced, and this was same for both PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game.
Now we are not promising anything and we can’t possibly know the real reason behind the delay unless Ubisoft itself comes out of the shadow and declare something official, but what we can guess here is that maybe the PC version is being developed in accordance to the next gen consoles, and that the in-game features might be the same as the one we might find in the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game. But this is just an assumption.
Nonetheless, Ismail sounded pretty clear when he said that the “PC [version] will come a few weeks after [the game’s release on consoles],” and that should be enough to draw a line between the release date of the game on consoles and the release date on PC.
Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, a sequel to 2012’s Assassin’s Creed 3, will feature Edward Kenway, a British pirate and member of the Assassin Order. Encounters with real life characters such as Edward “Blackbeard” Teach, Benjamin Hornigold and Anne Bonny are also on the cards.
