The Chinese electronics company Xiaomi recently launched a few smartphone models, ranging from their affordable Redmi-branded devices, all the way to high-end Xiaomi Mi 5, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus, Mi Note 2 and Mi MIX handsets. Xiaomi Mi 5c, also known as "Xiaomi Meri," has been the talk of the town for quite some time now. Just this month, photos of the recent Xiaomi model, Xiaomi Mi 5c, have leaked. The new model is thought to be under the name Xiaomi "Meri," as Android Headlines reported.
The specifications and features of the Xiaomi Mi 5c, or Xiaomi "Meri," are quite fascinating. It is believed to have a chipset powered by the company’s in-house SoC, the Pine Cone processor. Xiaomi "Meri" is said to have a 2GB or 3GB RAM and 64GB storage. Appearance-wise, the phone’s physical properties resemble the Xiaomi Mi 5 quite a bit. Just like Mi 5, the phone has a physical home key and two capacitive keys.
Xiaomi "Meri" won’t be a big smartphone and this might be a good news to some. It is reported that the phone’s display will not be larger than 5.2 inches. There is even be a possibility that Xiaomi might use the same dimensions as Xiaomi Mi 5. Xiaomi Mi 5c will also run under Android 6.0 Marshmallow, with the company’s MIUI 8 OS on top of it.
As reported by GSM Arena , Xiaomi Mi 5c will only cost 999 Yuan, which converts to around $144, at prevailing exchange rates. Xiaomi Meri’s price is evidently half the price of Xiaomi Mi 5s.
