Nintendo has not given more details about the soon to be released console Nintendo Switch until January, but there are already leaks with regard to the expected launching price of the said console. There are speculations that it will be priced at $250 but there are also rumors that it will be sold at a cheaper price.
The base model of the Nintendo Switch is said to be sold at $330 in Canadam which is equivalent to $250 in the U.S. according to a now deleted webpage of Toys R Us. According to Gizmodo, there is no assurance because there are no specifications as to what items are included in the said promo. There are questions whether or not controllers are included in the price as implied in the product images.
Even if the page of the Canadian Toys 'R Us does not show specific accessories needed to hook the console to the TV, some are curious if it is also included. There are speculations that $250 does not include everything, instead it is only the price of the console's screen.
Laura Dale from Let's Play Video Games also said that the launching price of the basic version of the Nintendo Switch will be at $250. She said that the price includes both the console and the controllers. On the other hand, she said that if the players want to have more internal storage, then it will cost $312.
The Nintendo 3DS debuted at $250 in its 2011 release, while the basic model of Wii U was sold at $300 in 2012. It is said that if the leaks are actually true, it might be a sign that Nintendo Switch is positioned in the same price range as a portable console. The Nintendo Switch is scheduled to be released in March 2017.
According in a report in Gizmodo, the answer to "Is $250 cheap enough?" depends whether everything that is needed to play the game is already included notwithstanding the game.
