The Witcher 3 new details point toward monster hunting and fast travel

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the upcoming open world RPG title from CD Projekt RED, is back in details and this time the details point toward the inclusion of monster hunting and in-game fast travel option.

In The Witcher 3, Geralt, on his way to glory, will be waylaid numerous times by a number of side quests that will also play a major role in determining the path forward for the player and build up the game’s conclusion, accordingly.

According to a report from Polygon, these side quests include the likes of hunting down monsters which the player can choose to do by accepting the request to do so from the villagers. Geralt will now hunt down monsters in an already revealed massive open world which is roughly 35 times the size of The Witcher 2: Assassin's of Kings.

“The Witcher 3's monsters appear to be formidable opponents. During the demo's final confrontation, Geralt went one-on-one with a creature called Leshen. The Leshen is a tall, clawed opponent with the head of a deer-like animal with the ability to move from place to place in a cloud of crows. Geralt's battle prowess, meanwhile, will include advanced swordplay and various magical attacks,” the report states.

It further adds that the game “will include a weather and day and night system, which will influence gameplay. Trying to sail out during a heavy storm for example, will likely capsize your ship and leave you stranded. Enemies such as werewolves are more powerful at night.”

While the player sees the in-game nature change realistically, he will have the option to free travel anywhere on the land either by foot or on a horse. There will be the option to fast travel so as to not to make the experience too monotonous.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the epic conclusion to the story of Geralt of Rivia, and this time, the game will focus heavily on Geralt’s personal journey. Geralt in The Witcher 3, the third entry in the trilogy, goes on in search of a dark and deadly force known as the Wild Hunt.

During the game’s demo at E3, the audience was provided with a vivid picture of the amount of chaos and destruction the game is capable of.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is currently scheduled for a 2014 release on PC and next generation consoles.
