Looks like the "Suicide Squad" spin-off, "Harley Quinn," is getting grounds as Warner Bros. and DC Films hired its official screenwriter. Rumors and speculations have been going around and here's what we know so far.
On board the "Harley Quinn" movie is Christina Hodson who will be working on this female-driven superhero (or super villain?) film. Hodson is also working on the "Transformers" spinoff movie - "Bumblebee," which is expected to air on the big screens come 2018. With the scriptwriter in place, we can safely assume the movie production will take off soon.
Although fans expected a solo spin-off film for Margot Robbie, it will not be the case. Instead, the movie will feature a group of female villains and superheroes taken from the DC Universe. But the catch is, there are rumors saying Robbie already signed an exclusive contract with Warner Bros. to produce the film through her production company LuckyChap Entertainment. According to reports, Robbie fell in love with the idea of a roster of female characters of DC while she was doing research on her own character; hence signing up to produce the movie.
This super villain team-up "Harley Quinn" movie will feature female characters who appeared several times in the "Birds of Prey" comics including Catwoman, Hawkgirl, Katana, Poison Ivy and Vixen, among others. The "Birds of Prey" was originally founded by Black Canary and Oracle where The Huntress later joined in to form a trio. Later on, the group expanded to include popular DC Universe characters.
Meanwhile, Margot Robbie is expected to reprise her role as Harley Quinn. Apart from that, less is known yet about the cast of the upcoming film. Jena Malone, however, is speculated to have played the role of Oracle in a deleted scene in "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice". She was cast as Barbara Gordon in the 2016 hit film and even showed in the Warner Bros. screenshot posted by a Redditor. However, the theatrical release never showed Malone in action. She could be debuting the character in the "Birds of Prey", perhaps? Stay tuned to GamenGuide for more updates.
