Filming activities for the HBO series "Game of Thrones" Season 7 is currently underway with many of its cast and crew members split between filming sets in Northern Ireland and Spain. Latest spoiler news hint of the re-appearance of an iconic House Stark sword to be wielded by Jamie Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), Cersei's (Lena Headey) twin and lover.
Avid "Game of Thrones" fans have been eagerly awaiting for the HBO series' return to the small screens. Several reports have already shared interesting information from the show's various sets. Latest filming activities in Spain hint of a battle that involves Jamie and Ser Bronn (Jerome Flynn).
Pictures from the said filming location also revealed Jamie wielding what appears to be the Widow's Wail, a House Stark sword, according to Watchers on the Wall. The said sword is a twin to Brienne's (Gwendoline Christie) weapon, the Oathkeeper, previously gifted to her by Jamie. Created from Ice, the House Stark greatsword, both blades were made from Valyrian steel.
Meanwhile, the Widow's Wail was believed to have been given to the late King Tommen (Dean Charles Chapman). Given Cersei and Jamie's son's suicide in "Game of Thrones" Season 6, the sword may have been given to Jamie.
With Brienne loyal to Sansa (Sophie Turner) and Jamie fighting alongside Cersei, the two swords are expected to clash in the upcoming new season of the HBO series. However, story speculations posted on Independent teased of Jamie's potential betrayal of Cersei. Given the origin of the Widow's Wail, Jamie may decide to use the sword to protect the Stark children.
At this point, it is still unclear if Jamie will switch sides to stop Cersei's continued rise to power. A scene featured in the "Game of Thrones" Season 6 finale showed Jamie with a serious and unreadable expression on his face as he watched his sister being crowned as the new Queen of the Iron Throne.
"Game of Thrones" Season 7 will premiere in summer 2017. Watch Cersei's coronation scene below:
