NextEV's NIO EP9 is currently holding a world record for accelerating from 0-200kph in just 0.71 seconds and having a top speed of 313kph. The said car reportedly set a new lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in October by finishing the 20.8km circuit in seven minutes and five seconds.
NextEV Wants To Be The Next Tesla
EP9 is powered by four high-performance electric motors (one for each wheel) and four individual gearboxes that provide a 777-volt powertrain. This powertrain builds up 1 megawatt of power, equivalent to an astonishing 1,341 horsepower. As stated by NextEV, the car is fortified with an "interchangeable battery system" that allows for charging in 45 minutes and a range of 427 kilometers (265 miles).
NextEV, a Chinese electric car maker, is one of the many companies competing to turn into the next Tesla Motors. At a launching event held in UK, NextEV revealed its NIO car brand and its first product, the electric supercar EP9. NextEV accentuated that NIO will help the buyers experience again "joyful lifestyle" of owning a car by way of "inspiring vehicles that deliver superior performance."
NextEV NIO Production & Price
Also, according to William Li, founder and chairman of NextEV, "The NIO EP9 was born to push limits and is the first stage of automotive production for NIO. It is a statement of our vision and technical and manufacturing capabilities. It showcases what is possible with electric vehicles." He also added that he intends to primarily focus on connectivity and infotainment, apparently following the model of U.S. startup Faraday Future and its Chinese patron, tech giant LeEco.
