"Doctor Who" is not your typical sci-fi TV show. It borders into ludicrous themes and premises. They get a little more ridiculous on their Christmas special. BBC just released this year's sneak peek of "Doctor Who Christmas Special" 2016 with Peter Capaldi, The Twelfth Doctor.
"Doctor Who" is a British sci-fi series produced by BBC which started airing since 1963. The show is about the adventures of the Doctor, a Time Lord. Time Lords are time travelling aliens in humanoid form. The series ends each year with a "Doctor Who Christmas Special."
According to the Verge, the Doctor travels time and space in his time travelling spaceship called the Tardis. The Tardis looks like a blue British police box popular during the 60's. The Doctor fights a variety of enemies across time and the galaxy with the help of his companions. This year's "Doctor Who Christmas Special," he is up for another challenging enemy.
Peter Capaldi, a Scottish actor, plays the twelfth reincarnation of The Doctor. His portrayal of The Doctor is rough, pensive and hardnosed. It's been a year since Peter Capaldi's appearance as The Twelfth Doctor. We saw him previously in the same crazy and over the top Christmas episode, "The Husbands of River Song." He'll be back at this year's "Doctor Who Christmas Special."
There is somehow continuity between the previous "Doctor Who Christmas Special" and this year's new one. UK comedian Matt Lucas returns as the simpleton Nardole.
Some familiar villains will be coming back on the show, specifically pointing out the creepy humanoids in the beginning of the clip managing the collected jars of brains. They look almost identical to the humanoid race villains from last year's "Doctor Who Christmas Special's" "The Shoal Of The Winter Harmony." There is also a signage on the wall that says they are in some place called "Harmony Shoal Research Center."
Like some of the Doctor Who episodes there might be some dragging storyline and some signature cheap special effects on the 2016 "Doctor Who Christmas Special." But this will hopefully prepare us for Dr. Who Season 10. This year's "Doctor Who Christmas Special", "The Return of Doctor Mysterio", will air December 25th in the UK and the 10th season starts in April 2017.
