In an effort to bring the best wifi system and coverage to households, Google has developed their new Wifi system that runs on a mesh system symply called as Google Wifi. The system was studied by the tech giant and they eventually came up with the Google Wifi highspeed internet.
The "mesh" system that is being used by Google Wifi is simply a system that is composed of a group of routers that operate by communicating with each other. Through this mesh, they eventually create a wifi system that can provide a wider coverage compared to a single router sytem.
Of course, as with any system, there are bound to be difficulties and other unforseen changes. This is why Google Wifi opted to test their system against other wifi systems that also incorporates the Mesh system before they were convinced that their product is indeed superior than the others.
Google employed the services of Allison USA, an independent company, to test out the Google Wifi performance versus two other providers, Lum and Eero. They measured the speed of the three systems in a 3000 square foot, two-storey house. They set up the Mesch systems and had four locations ready.
The results of the test showed that Google Wifi was able to not only double, but almost triple the wifi speed in some areas of the house. Google Wifi reached about 80-90Mbps, Eero came in at second place with around 45-60Mbps and then Luma came last with only about 30Mbps in some locations.
Android Police reported that it was not specified by Google how they measured the speed but they did employ an independent company to do the testing to keep the credibility of the test. Google Wifi may have shown an exemplary performance but fans should manage their expectations since internet speed can easily be affected by other factors. Allison and Google Wifi will be running more tests in the coming weeks.
According to Android Authority, Google Wifi is already set to be released on December 5 but the Google online store is already receiving pre-orders. The Google Wifi is sold at $129 for the single unit and $299 for the set of three.
