Nokia has confirmed the release of its new smartphones next year. The company last released a smartphone in February 2016.
The Finnish communications and information technology company, Nokia, is set to return to the Android world this 2017. According to Android Authority, Nokia smartphones might be revealed at MWC 2017. Mobile World Congress, MWC, is the world’s largest international business event in the mobile industry. This gathering will be held at Barcelona this February 2017. Rajeev Suri, Nokia’s President and CEO, would deliver a keynote speech at MWC 2017.
Nokia is associating with a Finnish company, HMD Global. HMD Global will be responsible in manufacturing the upcoming smartphones for the next 10 years. HMD Global has been founded to provide a focused, independent home for a full range of Nokia-branded mobile phones and tablets. The two companies made their tandem official by signing a contract in May 2016. The newly- formed company will unveil its brand new smartphones, running on Google’s Android operating system, at MWC 2017.
As NokiaPowerUser reported, HMD Global will launch at least two new Nokia smartphones in the early second quarter of 2017. Nokia also plans for “expanded Virtual Reality leadership”, which would probably mean a possibility for VR headsets. Nokia is also speculated to have two high-end handsets running Android Nougat in the works.
Nokia’s new smartphones will also launch “Digital Health” products, with a possibility for these products to be wearable. An expansion in mobile, automotive, and consumer electronic is also in the making.
Nokia’s new partner, HMD Global, is expected to present new smartphones next year, with the first model reportedly to be called D1C. The D1C is believed to process under Android Nougat, instead of the usual Windows Phone platform, like the recent Nokia Lumia phones. The phone is also said to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor running at 1.4Ghz and 3GB of RAM.
