Fans continue to wait for the release of "Avatar 2," which has been delayed yet again. The movie was originally scheduled to air in Christmas 2017, but it was moved to the following year. Although it would already be seven years since the original movie premiered, 20th Century Fox chairman-CEO Jim Gianopulos promises fans that the long wait for the James Cameron movie will be worth it.
In an interview with Variety, Gianopulos described "Avatar 2" production offices in New Zealand as "the most amazing, breathtaking thing" people will ever see. He also revealed that James Cameron's challenge lies in making sure that the wonderful world of Pandora will materialize in the sequel in the most impressive way.
At this point, not much is known about "Avatar 2," except for some of the actors that have already been confirmed to star in the movie and a bit of its plot. Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana will reprise their roles, Jake and Neytiri, respectively. Also back on board is Stephen Lang, who will return as Colonel Miles Quatrich.
As previously reported, the villain Miles met his demise in the first movie but since Stephen Lang is already confirmed to return for "Avatar 2," Miles will presumably wreak havoc in the movie. Not only will Lang's Miles Quatrich return in the second movie but also in the future installments.
As for the plot, director James Cameron already confirmed that "Avatar 2" will have to deal with Jake and Neytiri's family, which means the couple will have children. "It's more of a family saga about the struggle with the humans," Cameron told Variety in a separate interview. Prior to Cameron's hint at the plot, there were already rumors that Jake and Neytiri will get married at some point. He will then become the new Na'vi leader.
