Prince Harry of Wales has commenced his 15-day tour of the Carribean region. The sporty royal stopped by the wicket on day two of his trip and displayed his sporting skills to the delight of the crowd. The Prince played with West Indies Cricket legends: Sir Curtly Ambrose, Sir Andy Roberts and Sir Vivian Richards.
Dressed casually, Prince Harry played a range of shots and made two powerful drives before the game ended at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. After he upstretched his bat, the fans, mostly composed of school girls, mobbed him and asked for selfies.
Prince Harry was observed by the West Indies legends, who went to the sides during the game and shares jokes with the royal. The legends were a part of the West Indies team that habitually beat England during cricket's golden period in the mid-1980s. Former captain Sir Viv was one of the most destructive batsmen of his generation, who intimidated rivals with his aggressive batting skills. Sir Curtly and Sir Andy were fast bowlers and were part of the pace offense that ripped through their opponents.
Sir Curtly was quoted by The Times in an interview after Prince Harry's game saying that the Prince is a wonderful guy and is so down to earth. He added that he has been to the Buckingham Place twice before and met the Queen, but never met Harry. He said that meeting the Prince was a pleasure. Daily Star reported that Sir Courtly found the Prince's cricket game "okay." The legend added that the way the Prince hit the ball seems like he has played cricket before.
Harry was given a bat signed by the three Antiguan Knights of Cricket upon arriving at the stadium. When he left, the young cricket players made an arch with their blades for Prince Harry to walk through.
