While it's unfortunate that GT Sport's release date has been moved to 2017, fans of the racing game still have something to look forward to when the game does come out. It looks like GT Sport is primed to be a game for 4K TVs and VR headsets.
GT Sport is designed for PS4 Pro's 4K, HD & VR features
Polyphony Digital, the developers of GT Sport, is said to be working hard on using every power that goes with Sony's newest console, the PS4 Pro. During an event in London earlier this month, GT Sport game creator Kazunori Yamauchi said that they plan to optimize the game to feature both 4K and HDR graphics and performance. PS4 Pro is said to increase colors up to 64 percent with its HDR10 capability. For 4K resolution, GT Sport will be compatible with PS4 Pro's checkerboarding technique to deliver the best 4K gameplay experience.
Yamauchi said that Sony has provided the latest visual enhancements to its new console, and he is "more committed than ever to making GT Sport the best Gran Turismo game to date". GT Sport is expected to be rendered at 60fps for standard HDTVs, while it will be rendered in 30fps for 4K TVs. Yamauchi also added that GT Sport will not be a full VR game, but will feature a VR experience similar to the X Wing mission in "Star Wars Battlefront".
GT Sport release date for 2017
GT Sport was initially scheduled for a November 2016 release, but Yamauchi announced its delay in August. In a blog post for PlayStation, Yamauchi wrote: "As we approach our planned release date in November, we realize we need more time to perfect GT Sport, which we've already dedicated so much effort towards since announcing the title." The GT Sport release date delay caused Sony to issue refunds of pre-orders, telling customers that they'll be notified through e-mail when the game becomes available.
GT Sport's new release date is moved to 2017, but no final date has been announced. GT Sport is said to feature 137 cars, 19 beautiful locations and 27 tracks.
