Some GoPro Karma drone units experienced power failures leading the company to recall their product a few weeks after it was made available to the public. Now, the company hopes to make amends to the buyers of the drone by giving them a free GoPro Hero 5.
Refunds
Though the incidents of drones losing power during flight were only minimal, GoPro still decided to recall the device to avoid any potential risks for the users and other people as well. Returning Karma units would ensure a full $800 refund for the almost 2,500 customers who bought the drone.
Aside from this assurance, GoPro is also going the extra mile in their apology by giving away a GoPro Hero 5 unit to each buyer of the Karma drone. That is a $400-incentive for drone buyers whom GoPro hopes will still continue buying their products.
Sending out free GoPro Hero 5
"You will receive a refund for your purchase. All components included with the Karma drone bundle, including HERO5 Black and Karma Grip, must be returned for a full refund," GoPro said in a statement. The company added that when the item has been returned and a refund has been handed to the customer, GoPro will send Hero5 unit to say "thank you."
GoPro Hero 5 was released along with the Karma drone. It stunned GoPro users with its new features like the impressive audio recording capability and image stabilization. It can also be used underwater (10 m) even without a waterproof case.
Specs and features
The newly released action camera is also lighter than the GoPro Hero 4. Its rubberized design is very useful to users especially when they are on adventures where they need a tight hold on the device to avoid it from falling.
GoPro Hero5 is not only a powerful device outside but is also equipped with what users need internally. Surely, those who bought the Karma drone will not feel that they wasted their money because of the refund and this incentive.
