There are more new revelations as to what Blizzard plans for the future, and this time it’s via an ex-Blizzard employee. According to him, Blizzard was considering making the fourth iteration of the popular Warcraft franchise, but chose something different instead.
Following an AMA session in Reddit held by a former Zynga employee, the former Blizzard employee also held an AMA session for the fans for whatever questions they had regarding the game. Needless to say, quite a few details about Blizzard’s plans for the future were unveiled.
The employee, who worked in the company from 2006 to 2012 as a Game Master, in Tech Support and then in QA before being laid off last year, when asked if the company had any intentions about making Warcraft 4, stated: “You know, I think there was some talk of that going around, and I don’t think they would be opposed to the idea, but I think they want to focus on new titles right now to gain more exposure.”
While the prospect of a new Warcraft game is always a tasty affair for those who really are into the WoW universe (me being no exception), the prospect of an entirely new game, provided we get the same quality and amount of action that we have come to expect off Blizzard in the recent years, is even more exciting.
As far as Blizzard is concerned, apart from titles like Diablo 3 and World of Warcraft, the company is yet to present anything that can actually be tagged as “fresh.” However, it has already been reported that the company’s next MMORPG title Project Titan is already in works after the project restarted with 70 employees from the former group of 100 who got relocated to other different titles.
Although we remain hopeful that a new Warcraft may come sometime later in the future, it could be a bit more to ask if we are expecting anything from Blizzard at the upcoming E3 apart from showing off its Diablo 3 port for the PlayStation. Nonetheless, we all would love to be surprised.
Additionally, it has been reported that Blizzard is set to push out a flexible Raid system for World of Warcraft in the form of a forthcoming update. The Flexible Raid System has been designed to push itself in between Raid Finder and Normal difficulty, and is said to be open to pre-made groups ranging from 10 to as many as 25.
