Forza Motorsport 5 looks to be a graphical showcase of the Xbox One. The racing game is set to run at 1080p high definition at 60fps. With the graphics enhancements Forza Motorsport 5 will be the graphical forbearer of the next generation Xbox console.
Turn 10 Studios says in a recent interview with Gamespot that Forza Motorsport 5 is positioned to showcase the raw computing power of the Xbox One. Turn 10 Studios' content director John Wendel reports that the next game in the Forza series has large expectations and the studio has to be aware of that.
"We're a huge epic game that's going to be running at 1080p, 60fps on the next-gen console, so it's an incredible opportunity on one hand, but you have to be incredibly flexible and agile and self-aware on the other hand," says Wendel.
Forza Motorsport 5 will be a launch title for the Xbox One late this year. The Forza Motorsport franchise has been a mainstay of the Xbox series of consoles since the beginning. Forza One was released on the original Xbox at launch. The series was also introduced on the Xbox 360 at its launch.
Turn 10 Studios' software architect Chris Tector says during the interview that the development team behind the next Forza will be using its experience from developing the series to create a quality product that outperforms previous titles.
"We've got a lot of experience now in delivering on time and delivering with performance and quality. It's more that we can continue that arc of quality and performance, and people won't see it as 'Oh, well that's the speedbump that got us onto the generation and we'll wait for the next version'. [Forza Motorsport 5] is going to be the quality that everyone expects." says Tector.
Forza Motorsport 5 won't be the only title to be released for the Xbox One at launch. Microsoft has also announced that Quantum Break and Halo 5 will be coming to the next Xbox.
Quantum Break is the next title from Max Payne developer Remedy Entertainment. While Halo 5 will continue the long running first person shooter franchise. More details about both titles are expected to be released at E3 2013.
