"The Night Shift" season 4 is officially renewed by NBC entertainment, but there is no other information yet to when it will air. This will be the long-awaited season that fans have been asking for to come back.
"The Night Shift" season 3 has recently concluded with more questions than answers. Finally, season 4 is renewed and expected to provide some closure from the previous season. However, the fourth season's release date is still in consideration following its rating challenges during the midseason of 2015.
According to Deadline, "The Night Shift" gained high ratings during the summer with an average of 1.4 rating in adults with 18-49 of age. The show has 6.8 million viewers during Season 3 which made it the No. 1 drama in the summer season.
From the previous "The Night Shift" season, some ER staff has lost their jobs without disclosing of happened next to them. Also, it is disturbing to know that season 3 ended with TC (Eoin Macken) and Syd (Jennifer Beals) unconscious after a missile attack. All of these are expected to be cleared with Season 4.
According to TVLine, NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said in a statement, that she is delighted for "The Night Shift" renewal. "Week after week, The Night Shift tells incredibly engaging and emotional stories that draw us into a unique world," she added.
The renewal of "The Night Shift" season 4 came forward after NBC decided not to push through with "Cruel Intentions" TV series. NBC and Sony TV supposedly planned to offer "Cruel Intentions" this summer but opted to push through "The Night Shift" season 4.
Meanwhile, the decision of NBC to renew "The Night Shift" season 4 is a good strategy to retain the network's high ratings. Undeniably, "The Night Shift" defeated CBS' "Zoo" with only 0.7 rating and Fox's "Wayward Pines" which has the same 0.7 ratings. It also gained high ratings on Wednesday-at-10 timeslot defeating CBS' "American Gothic."
