Fresh off the heels of his decisive victory over the Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar at last night's WWE Survivor Series 2016 PPV, sources report that Bill Goldberg is looking forward to participating at the next WWE Royal Rumble 2017 PPV extravaganza.
Bill Goldberg was booked strongly in his WWE Survivor Series 2016 "Mega Match" with Brock Lesnar to build momentum for one last run before calling it a career. Plans are already being made for the final act in their trilogy of matches, with all signs pointing to WrestleMania 33 as the final destination after their pit stop at WWE Royal Rumble 2017.
As with previous years, the WWE Royal Rumble PPV marks the beginning of the Road To WrestleMania storylines. Bill Goldberg's final storyline will culminate in a retirement match at WrestleMania 33 which will see Brock Lesnar's hand raised in victory - a complete turnaround from the result of their previous encounter at WrestleMania 20, 12 years ago.
Sources say that it was actually Brock Lesnar's idea to put over Bill Goldberg strong at the WWE Survivor Series 2016 PPV in order to build to a climactic rematch down the line, as a prolonged feud with him would make them both more money than a one-off match could - an idea that Vince McMahon was reportedly on board with as well. This led to Bill Goldberg signing an extended deal this week that includes his involvement at the WWE Royal Rumble 2017 PPV.
As for the Beast Incarnate, his road to redemption storyline works on 2 different levels: firstly to avenge his now 2 straight losses to Bill Goldberg; and second, to erase from the WWE Universe's minds the memories of their now infamous WresleMania 20 match. Stay tuned for more details on what's on the table for him at the WWE Royal Rumble 2017 PPV.
