Following the insane cycle of elections that culminated in Nov. 8, America has since looked toward "Saturday Night Live" (SNL) actor Alec Baldwin, who's known for his uncanny impersonations of US president-elect Donald Trump, for some comfort. And the "SNL" veteran delivered in yet another spot-on performance during the latest SNL episode as he portrayed the Republican dealing with the harsh realities of actually winning the election: being president of the United States.
But president-elect Donald Trump took no time at all to resort to his favorite platform of airing grievances: Twitter. In a tweet, the business mogul slammed "SNL" for being unfunny and biased. However, the fake Donald Trump, Alec Baldwin, did not take that sitting down, engaging him in a series of fiery tweets for being unpresidential.
What went down
The latest "SNL" cold open with Alec Baldwin's Donald Trump getting fazed by the scope of responsibilities that come with being president. He is shown googling Isis after talking to a general who wanted to know what his plans were for defeating the international terrorist group, while audiences laughed to Kate McKinnon's Kellyanne Conway, as the actress usually plays Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton. Later in the SNL skit, Alec Baldwin's Donald Trump is seen reneging on his campaign promises, such as repealing Obamacare, deporting immigrants and creating coal-mining jobs, according to the New York Times.
Donald Trump's reaction
True to form, the real Donald Trump slammed Alec Baldwin and "SNL" for being biased and unfunny, demanding "equal time," which is a general policy for the elections. Baldwin, however, did not mince his words for the incoming president of the United States, saying Trump should focus more on the responsibilities of being a President rather than reacting to satirical portrayals of him.
He also charged Trump for his choice of appointees for the Cabinet and other government appointees. He reminded him that his choices should inspire people, not sow fear and anxiety across his governed. How will this Alec Baldwin-Donald Trump feud end? Stay tuned for more "SNL" updates.
