Fans will be unhappy and disappointed to know that "Toy Story 4" is going to move its release date to 2019 instead of 2018. This is mainly because of the release date switch with the upcoming animated sequel "The Incredibles 2."
In a recent interview with Andrew Stanton of Pixar, he mentioned that there is no reason for "Toy Story" 4 fans to be upset with this news. Cinema Blend reported about their interview with the director, he said, "There's no big conspiracy about anything, even though I know that would be juicy."
He added, "The truth is that every time we develop films, we always have five or six films privately that we're in the middle of developing." He further said that their films like "Toy Story 4" really does not have fixed dates and the one with the complete storyline will release first.
He also mentioned that for economic reasons, if a film is going well while it is being made, its release date gets bump up to an earlier date. Andrew Stanton also explained that they wanted the story to be complete and not rushed before they release it. That is probably the main reason why "Toy Story 4" was switched with "The Incredibles 2." However, it does sound reasonable given that Pixar has produced high-quality animated films throughout its whole run such as "Finding Nemo," "Cars," and "Monsters Inc." among others.
In another interview, Tom Hanks who gives the voice to the main character Woody will once again lend his voice for "Toy Story 4." Japan Today reported Tom Hanks excitement to reprise the role and mentioned that the actor knew about the time the cast and crew need to be creative.
Tom Hanks said that he cannot wait to see what the showrunners have in store for Woody for "Toy Story 4" and that fans really need not worry about the delay. "Toy Story 4" is slated to be released on June 21, 2019, while "The Incredibles 2" will be on June 15, 2018.
