"Cars 3" is an upcoming 3 Dimensional (3D) computer- generated comedy film produced by Pixar Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is a sequel to "Cars" (2006) and "Cars 2" (2011). The film is directed by Brian Fee, a story board animator for the first two films.
According to a leaked film synopsis for the upcoming comedy film "Cars 3," the film will focus on Lightning McQueen who is now a veteran racer. He will participate in various races around America with his new-friend Cruz Ramirez. There will be a new enemy by the name of Jackson Storm while fans will be greeted with returning characters such as Mater, Sally and Ramone.
In addition to these details, Pixar's John Lasseter hints that "Cars 3" will revert to the emotional roots which is reminiscent of how the franchise started back in 2006. "Cars 3" will center on a student and teacher relationship. Only this time, Lightning McQueen is the older vehicle receiving pointers on keeping up with the new generation of young race cars.
Another reason why "Cars 3" is taking the emotional route is perhaps to pay tribute to actor Paul Newman, the actor that played (Doc Hudson), who passed away between the release of the two films. In relation to this, film director Brian Fee introduces a new character named Cruz Ramirez who he describes as a young Hispanic female race car who helps to renew the competitive spirit of Lightning McQueen.
In the upcoming "Cars 3," with Lightning McQueen's aging circuits and chassis, he will go up against a younger and fiercer competition which comes in the character known as Jackson Storm. Lightning McQueen is out to prove that he still has it.
"Cars 3" features an excellent voice cast led by Owen Wilson (Lightning McQueen), Larry the Cable Guy (Mater), Boonie Hunt (Sally Carerra), Cheech Marin (Ramone). Voice actors for Storm Jackson and Cruz Ramirez has not been announced. "Cars 3" is scheduled to be released on June 16, 2017.
