It was milestone when Sony eventually allowed "Fallout 4" mods on PS4. Bethesda's long standing request to adapt it finally came to reality when last month, it was announced that modding will be available on the PS4 platform. After it was initially launched, the feature was immediately followed by "Fallout 4" update 1.8 that now, post some problems to fans.
According to the latest report by Neowin, despite the hype on the "Fallout 4" mods, few limitations were also noticed that hindered the maximum modding experience on PS4. Some of these limitations include the use of in-game assets only. Unlike modding on PC and the Xbox One platform, they allow third party assets in creating "Fallout 4" mods.
It's bad that in-game assets can only be used in the "Fallout 4" mods on PS4, but the file size allowance only makes it worse. Unlike the Xbox One platform, "Fallout 4" mods on PS4 will be limited to 1GB in size, that's 50 percent smaller than the Xbox One file size allowance.
That limits "Fallout 4" mods on PS4 to a total of 200 compared to Xbox One's over 4,381 mods. The PC platform on the other hand currently hosts 3,177 mods. Take note however, that mods on the Xbox one and PC platform started as early as April and May this year.
Meanwhile, "Fallout 4" patch 1.12 has been launched to help modding on PS4 get a clean slate. The new update helps improve the overall performance of "Fallout 4" mods on the PS4 console. Some of the patch notes in the update according to the NeuroGadget include mods yield in the mods browser has been doubled, changed mods rating so that only downloaded mods can be rated and Mod category and favorites not being displayed correctly issue has been fixed.
