StillAlive studios announced today that its Son of Nor Kickstarter campaign surpassed the $150,000 needed for mind controlled third person action.
The campaign began earlier this month as StillAlive partnered with mind controlled headset developer Emotiv for the game that allows players to control characters actions through magic powers like telekinesis and terraforming through their minds.
Running for 30 days and completed yesterday, the studio made 100 percent of its target through more than 2,200 backers. StillAlive ended up going over their goal with $151,175 in total.
Though the Austria-based studio was "thrilled, delighted and very grateful" for the successful Kickstarter, it's hoping that people will deliver the same support as work commences on getting the project launched onto Steam Greenlight.
"The team have been overwhelmed by the positive comments and the amount of people that have come out to back our final stages of development for Son of Nor," said StillAlive CEO Julian Mautner. "We have Son of Nor live on Steam Greenlight now and we are hopeful those who have got behind us on Kickstarter, as well as Steam users and other gamers, will support us and vote here too."
Development on Son of Nor has been going on for more than a year and his 25 percent complete. Because of the Kickstarter campaign, the game will see a release during the second quarter of 2014 on PC, Mac and Linux.
Son of Nor features a single player set in a desert world where human kind is on the brink of extinction at the hands of an evil reptilian race called the Sarahul. Players will use their mind to fight the Sarahul and solve puzzles. StillAlive plans on including co-operative online multiplayer for up to four players and two player spilt-screen on one computer.
Those who pledged $300 to the developer's Kickstarter campaign well get a digital copy of Son of Nor and Emotiv's EPOC headset and $500 comes with a physical copy and the mind reading device.
